The value of freedom is greater than the value of convenience... true freedom, as in the freedom to wake up when you want and be able to freely choose how you spend your time every day, not just on the weekends or your days off. Once experienced, the value of true freedom is far greater than the value of convenience. Consider for a moment the fact that if you had the freedom to plan your day however your wanted, your life would probable look much differently. What would be convenient for you would also change. Driving 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store would seem very inconvenient if you were also working 40+ hours a week, but if you didn't have to work, 20 minutes away might seem like a good excuse to get out and go do something. Living in an expensive area just because we want to be close to things and near stuff we like to do, means that you will be working more and giving up more of your freedom to afford that lifestyle. Changing your mindset to accept being uncomfortable...

Persian Room Fine Dining

I have been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally got a chance. It's across the street from my favorite sushi spot, Sushi Brokers which is another great place. The decor is high end, making this a great place for a fancy date. Make sure to dress appropriately for the best experience, there isn't a dress code anymore, but out of respect shorts and flip flops aren't recommended. The prices are a little high, but the lunch specials are more reasonable and the portions are always very generous. Most of the meals are large enough to share if you don't have a big appetite and you can always get an appetizer and dessert.

Now to the important part, the food. Before the meal starts soft, warm naan bread and fresh herbs with onion are brought out. The bread and herbs can be eaten separately or saved to eat with the meat, which I recommend for the koobideh to balance the flavor slightly.  They have multiple options, from beef, chicken, lamb and seafood to vegetarian. For the meat options, most are one form of skewer or kebab with basmati rice that can be upgraded to various other side dish options for a price. I had the chicken filet sultani and my friend had the beef sultani with the loobia polo substituted for the rice, which I highly recommend. The loobia polo is sauteed chunks of beef of tenders and green beans simmered in fresh tomato sauce, saffron, Persian spices with a touch of olive oil and garlic mixed with basmati rice and was delicious. The chicken filet consisted of chunks of white meat chicken seasoned perfectly and was tender and juicy, while the chicken and beef koobideh were packed with flavor. The beef barg kebab is filet mignon pieces lightly seasoned and perfectly tender.

If you want a break from the standard fare and have a craving for meat, this is a great place and the Persian spices will make you want to come back for more. My 3 year old daughter loved the leftovers and the loobia polo was her favorite. The multiple vegetarian options sounded delicious even though I didn't try them. The Persian Room has something for everyone and every palate, just bring your appetite and be prepared for an amazing dining experience. I highly recommend it and will definitely be going back to try the other options and get some baklava.
