The value of freedom is greater than the value of convenience... true freedom, as in the freedom to wake up when you want and be able to freely choose how you spend your time every day, not just on the weekends or your days off. Once experienced, the value of true freedom is far greater than the value of convenience. Consider for a moment the fact that if you had the freedom to plan your day however your wanted, your life would probable look much differently. What would be convenient for you would also change. Driving 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store would seem very inconvenient if you were also working 40+ hours a week, but if you didn't have to work, 20 minutes away might seem like a good excuse to get out and go do something. Living in an expensive area just because we want to be close to things and near stuff we like to do, means that you will be working more and giving up more of your freedom to afford that lifestyle. Changing your mindset to accept being uncomfortable...

The Crack Shack (San Diego, CA)

I watched an episode of the Zimmerman list on the Travel Channel about San Diego, which is how I heard about this amazing place. The Crack Shack is located near Little Italy in downtown and not too far from the harbor and the airport, in a very trendy, up and coming area. All of the seating is outside, so be warned if the weather isn’t ideal or it is windy as it may affect your experience. Walk up and order, they will give you a number and find a table.
I went on 2 occasions during the same trip, because it was that good and ordered the Coop Deville on my first visit along with the Baja Chop salad with pollo asado. The Coop Deville was perfect, the chicken was crunchy and amazing the slaw was the perfect complement except for the fact it kept falling out. The salad was solid, but I recommend going with the fried chicken instead of the pollo asado, only because it is so good. On the second trip I ordered the Senor Croque which was perfect for breakfast, the deviled eggs and 5 pieces of heaven.
I consider Roscoe’s in LA to be the gold standard for fried chicken which was my first unbelievable fried chicken experience so I’m a little biased. The Crack Shack doesn’t disappoint and comes in very close. The main difference is that Crack Shack adds additional seasoning to the fried chicken which finishes it off perfectly and might even make it better than Roscoe’s depending on your preference. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back until I have tried everything on the menu.
This is a great casual place for a date, in a trendy, high end environment with plenty of room and even cornhole to burn some time while you wait for your food and get your date’s competitive juices flowing. Interesting fact, doing an activity with your date increases hormone levels and feelings of attraction, so this is a win-win.
